Container grown seedlings
are grown in special container cells in which the taproot is "air pruned",
thus promoting the development of hundreds of fine feeder roots.
This process forms a plug of healthy, vigorous roots. When the
seedling is harvested, this plug of roots is undisturbed - dramatically
increasing the adaptability and growth rate of the seedling. Container
grown seedlings are easy to plant and can be planted earlier or
later in the season than field grown seedlings.
